To a layman, outsourcing would seem like a waste of time and money, as well as an unneeded complication. After all, why send business abroad when the work can probably be done better right at home? To a politician, the issue of outsourcing serves as a fortified objection to taking jobs away from ‘our own countrymen’. Sympathy towards this issue may elicit a few votes, but nothing more.

But to a businessman, outsourcing is a modern day boon. Outsourcing grants businesses the freedom to dump non – core, yet important sectors of its administration on companies specializing in those very individual aspects. Thus, leaving the businessman free to wholly concentrate on those areas of the company that bring in the real moolah.

The most enticing advantage of outsourcing is the cost effective factor. Human resource and IT services in the United States or Europe are not exactly inexpensive. Let’s avoid complicated business jargon and say that outsourcing is basically an option that offers these services at a much, much lower rate i.e., a cheap but highly productive mass work force. Let us take India as an exemplary illustration.

Thousands of highly intelligent people graduate in a variety of fields each year. Almost all of them speak English better than the English, and have dreams of making big money in a short period of time. The boom of BPO’s in the last 10 years has given them a chance to realize those dreams. It provides them with the opportunity to stay close to home and earn almost as much as they would if they took up a job abroad. On an average, an individual would earn $ 300 to $ 500 per month. A small sum to an American, but an Indian would be quite happy with that salary considering the conversion rate. It’s a win – win situation for your business as well as the company you’re outsourcing to.

There is no dearth of candidates willing to suffer incessant night shifts. Due to a constant effort of having to prove themselves, you can be assured of enhanced quality and productivity at all times. The company you outsource to will always be sure to reach your targets, deliver on time, ensure stringent security and maintain a level of productivity which won’t tempt you into taking your business elsewhere. Employees are regularly evaluated and terminated if found wanting in any aspect. The entire process of recruitment and the hassles involved with finding (and sustaining) the right person for the job is taken off your shoulders.

By 2009, in addition to human resources and IT services, companies that take on offshore contracts will also offer tax preparation and back office services. Hundreds of commerce students graduate in India each year and go on to become chartered accountants in a country where there is no dearth of them. Offering these services to countries abroad would be lucrative for both parties. The most advanced security procedures will be employed in this regard.

It all comes down to the money. Let’s face it; we live in a material world. And the technical term for material is moolah. So until the day the cons of outsourcing outweigh the monetary factors (read pros), outsourcing; as a legitimate and lucrative way to do business, is here to stay.

“Being all things to all people” sounds good, but in most cases it reduces the liquidity of a business. Business liquidity encompasses the number of prospective buyers, the business valuation, and the amount of time required to market the then close the deal.

• The most liquid scenario is a co-located web hosting client base, with no data center, offices, or employees, and only one owner/decision maker. This type of business can be under contract to be sold within 48 hours. (Post ‘Letter of Intent’ due diligence, contract preparation, integration plans etc. all take a bit of time.)

• The least liquid scenario is a web hosting company, which offers design services, has offices, a data center, and offers related services such as access, marketing services etc.

Valuation Difference:
Something I have seen many times is the owner/decision maker on the sell side has heard web hosting company valuation formulas and wants to apply that formula to his company. Inevitably the owner is disappointed when the offer comes up short in their mind, and passes on what actually is a fair valuation.

Design Services:
The decision to staff up and start offering web design services to complement the pure play hosting recurring revenue is a huge decision with regards to the effect on business liquidity. Of course design services can be a natural fit with hosting clients by helping to reduce client churn and up selling existing clients. However, the value of the revenue and cash flow generated from one-time design jobs is no where near the value of the recurring hosting revenue and cash flow.

Negatives of design departments when it comes time to sell:
• From the buyer’s perspective, acquiring the entire company and keeping the design efforts going is risky. It’s 50/50 whether the key design people will stick around after closing … regardless what they or the seller states. In addition, if you have to replace key people, the new staff will not have the relationships with the client base.
• From the buyer’s perspective, acquiring the entire company then canceling the design efforts is usually a risky decision as well. There are offices to deal with in addition to staff which needs to be let go … both time consuming and detrimental to the existing client base.
• My estimate is for every 20 buyers of a pure play hosting company, there are only 1-2 buyers for hosting design shop combo’s.

Internet Data Center:
Investing in an IDC may increase the value of the entire company by an enormous amount over time, but definitely reduces the liquidity in the short run. Typically smaller web host co-locate in the beginning, then at a later date acquire their own data center. In turn, the company will then offer space to other smaller host hence creating yet another service offering.

Owning an underutilized data center reduces the number of one type of buyer … the “cash flow buyer”, yet invites a new category of buyer, the “asset and cash flow buyer”. The later buyer is looking to both grow through acquisitions and make the swap from co-location to owning the data center. The less remaining capacity of the data center, the more of a cash flow type deal it will be, hence usually more liquid.

If you are in debt, you’ve spent money more quickly than you’ve earned it!

If you are one of them who is trying to get answers on how to get out of debt , the first step you must intitiate is simply, you’ll need to reduce your expenses or increase your income, or a combination of both. Too often increases in income result in increased spending, so curb the spending first if possible.

The hard truth of credit card debt is that we get into it because we want things we can’t afford and somehow talk ourselves into using credit cards thinking that we will either have enough money at the end of the month to pay off debt , or we’re simply impatient and can’t wait to save up for the new, new thing.

If you have a huge credit card debt and not finding a way how to get out it, there are angencies like payingpaul.com who can help you pay off debt. Don’t hesitate to make use of them.

In the future to stay out of debt, analyze your spending habits. What caused your debt? Do you need to fix a leaky wallet? Some people need to record on paper everything they spend for a month to find the leaks.

A dollar a day for soda is $365 a year. The estimated long-term cost of a pack of cigarettes is ~$40. These figures look small but they can lead you to a personal bankruptcy in the long run.

Scrutinize your needs and wants. Be willing to forego some of your wants, and postpone others in order to get out of debt. Only borrow for things which increase in value, not toys.

Seek to eliminate some of your expenses, especially recurring expenses. Many who are buried in debt have expensive cell phones, satellite TV, expensive phone options, internet service, storage units, and other monthly conveniences which prohibit them from reducing their debt burden.

There is nothing magic about getting out of debt. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it is! Many companies who claim to be able to help you, will worsen your finances if you let them.

If you are an impulsive buyer, hide your credit cards at home in a safe place.

Looking for something that will explain merchant accounts to you? Are you in need of a merchant account for beginners, mini tutoring session? Then you have come to the right place. Below you will find a list of the fundamentals pertaining to merchant accounts and how they work!

Once you have completely established your web-based business, you will want to begin the application process for a merchant account. A merchant account will allow you to enable credit card processing on your website with your website acting as a virtual gateway for order processing.

Your website must be fully established before you apply for your merchant account, as a merchant account supplier will want to see that your business actually exists. Further, a merchant account supplier may require that you have a registered domain name, so you may want to take such information into consideration when you are creating your website.

Applying for a merchant account may take several days, so don’t be surprised if you are not instantly approved. A merchant account supplier will verify much of the information you submitted and will also approve or deny your application based on a number of risk assessments. Such assessments are determined on how long you have been in business, what type of credit you have and what type of business you are running.

Once you have been approved for a merchant account, you will be able to set up online credit card processing on your website, depending on the merchant account supplier. Later, after you have successfully set up your merchant account access, your customers will be able to make purchases via your merchant account access and the merchant account supplier will handle all of your transactions.

You will be charged a transaction fee and a discount fee for each transaction, and a monthly statement fee from the merchant account supplier. Additionally, you may be required to set up a reserve based on the risk assessment initially conducted on your business. Although the reserve money belongs to you, the merchant account supplier holds on to such funds in the event that you encounter credit card fraud. Unfortunately, you will be responsible for such charges and your reserve will meet the sudden and unfortunate expense.

It all sound so easy right? Usually it is, however you can run into a snag or two. If you are denied a merchant account based on the risk assessment conducted, how will you collect credit card payments? Through a third party of course!

Third parties are willing to collect credit card payments for you if you pay the transaction fees required. A particularly popular third party processor is PayPal. There are no setup fees involved in enrolling in PayPal, however, you might be required to wait until you have verified your bank account before you can use PayPal’s services.

PayPal is also easy to set up on your website and you can even accept payments via email. What’s more, depending on the type of program you sign up for, you can even set up a shopping cart on your website or bill customers with PayPal’s unique invoicing template. Finally, PayPal offers mediation services when a customer is not satisfied with a product and they also offer the very best technology to help prevent fraudulent transactions.

Merchant accounts and third party processors can literally change the way you conduct business on the Internet. What’s more, both merchant accounts and third party processors broaden your business horizons by increasing the forms of payments that you can accept. Therefore, in using such accounts you essentially increase your bottom line!

If your business is important you will choose business class web hosting instead of a standard hosting plan. With most providers that offer hosting solutions for business you get more support and features. It’s not hard to find the best web hosting for small business put first you need to look at these areas:

Price
Don’t get fooled by the cheapest host out there. Most of the top business web hosting companies have prices that range from $12.00 per month to $60.00 per month. If you think that a company offering business hosting for $4.00 per month can meet your needs you better think again.

Support
Finding a web host that offers good support can be hard to do but this should be your main focus. You need 24 hour phone support because you never know what time of the night your hosting could go down. Email support is fine but your website will get fixed faster if you can pick up the phone and actually speak with a tech support representative that can work on your problem right then and there.

Fast Servers
You want your pages to load quickly when visitors come to your website. If the pages load slowly then potential visitors might not wait for the page to load and click the back button. Most business hosting plans the hosting company gives more resources as opposed to a standard hosting plan. In some cases with a standard plan you could be on a web server with 700-800 other websites but often with business hosting that number is cut in half, if not less.

Uptime
Another critical part of finding a good host is uptime. Most host offer a 99.9% guarantee policy and this is good. Hosts that have this policy and uptime are usually very dependable.

All business owners would like to employ the best people and offer their employees the best package they can.

Most small businesses are unable to compete against the larger corporate entities however, in the area of benefits offered to employees such as 12 months sick pay. Their financial structures and turnover would simply crack under the strain. Couple that with having to employ someone else to do the work whilst one of your employees are off ill and you are staring a real threat to your business in the face!

To compete in today’s workplace; small businesses need to look at alternative ways to offer these benefit packages to entice the best workers onto their team. An effective option for smaller businesses could be an Executive Income Protection plan.

State benefits go a little way to helping mitigate an individual’s financial pressures in the event of sickness but that’s it, it goes only a “little” way!

Executive Income Protection plans offer a potential solution. They are specifically designed for smaller businesses looking to offer key employees extended sick pay benefits.

An Executive Income Protection plan will pay a proportion of the employee’s salary to the business in the event that he is unable to work because of illness or injury.

‘It’s worth making the point that because the benefit is paid to the company rather than the individual, the business can decide how the benefit is used. They can pass it on tot the employee through their salary in the usual way, keep part or all of it and put it towards the cost of a temporary replacement.

These type of policies, as with most Income Protection policies can be tailored to suit individuals’ needs with deferment periods etc. but are usually subject to a maximum benefit of 75% of the individuals average salary in the previous 52 weeks, including any benefits in kind as reported in HM Revenue and Customs P11D and dividend payments.

Some policies may even include Hospitalisation Benefits at no extra cost.

Well it finally happened… the economic downturn has started to hit me in the wallet. I was hoping that I could manage to avoid looking at ways I can cut down on my expenses, but unfortunately now this can be avoided.

So, in thinking how I can reduce the bills, I decided that I should check the cost of my household bills. To this end, I used a site called energychoices… Folks, this website is great! I was able to learn about how I can reduce my energy bills by comparing many different suppliers, all on one website!

I managed to save myself a good few £ on my monthly gas and electric bills, which will help the household purse no end.

In the header of the site, I noticed links to other comparison sites, including broadband and credit related varieties! Great! Maybe the family overdraft can be reduced somewhat before the kids inherit it! – Needless to say I perused the credit site for a while, and got a fair few tips for both improving my credit score, and how to avoid pitfalls that are all too commonplace with the terms and conditions of credit providers.

If anyone else is concerned about the effects that the economic slump is going to have on their household, then I suggest that you pay a vist to credit and energy choices, and see how you can save on your bills also, before the crunch really bites.

Franchising is a business model where a franchisee gets the permission start a branch that uses the name and methods of the franchisor in exchange for royalty fees. It differs a bit from starting your own business due to the fact that you are using the proven business strategy of an established company.

If you are considering buying into such a business, you need to analyze the Franchise opportunities that you have short listed and you should identify the perfect franchise business model for you.

Finding the right franchise opportunity is not that hard as you think. You can find best franchise opportunities at http://www.franchiseroute.co.uk/ and if you are looking for UK Franchise opportunities then this website provides you complete franchise opportunities available in the UK.

Some prospective owners look at the buying price of a franchise when considering buying into them. Unfortunately, they forget to factor in other expenses such as employee salaries and operating expenses. These factors are crucial in knowing if you can really make a profit out of the business. This problem is further compounded if the business requires more employees or if the business needs more managers. If you don’t consider these expenses, you might find yourself over your head in the budget department as the actual buying price plus salaries, operating expenses, and even debts could easily double your expected budget.

Always, always work within budget. Remember you are either buying into an existing franchise or starting a new branch. It wouldn’t do well to start in debt. An accountant would come in handy when considering a franchise. Have them look at the numbers and analyze how the particular business is going. These professionals have experience in assessing and evaluating how that business is going. If they raise the red flag, you may want to reconsider buying into the business.

Franchises do not suit everyone, however, they do present a relatively intriguing business prospect. As with any potential investment, make sure you do your homework diligently. Investigate with all your might. It is your hard earned money at stake here. If you do your job right, well, you may have a potential gold mine in your hands. Do not be complacent once you purchase a franchise. If you exerted effort when you still did not own the branch, you may have to exert more afterwards.
